It had to happen eventually. Four magical weeks in NZ finally come to an end. This trip included different angles on old favourite destinations (Wellington, Rawene, Waihi Beach, Taupo, Auckland), and some brand new ones (Whanganui, New Plymouth, Raglan – all worthy of future visits should the opportunity arise).
After what still feels like an eternity travelling back, we’re back in the freezing cold bosom of home, in the grip of a traditional British winter. Sad to end such a great trip but nice to be home too – catching up with friends and family, no scurrying across a campsite to the facilities block to spend a midnight penny – I can just walk down the hall, chowing down on much missed favourite foods (like fried plantain, yum)…
Finally had to return our campervan. Afterwards, we were treated to a whistle stop afternoon tour of Auckland’s best bits according to Lynne. Piha Beach being one of them. I hear the surf is good, and the weather sunny and hot…
I can’t get enough of New Zealand so hopefully I’ll get another chance to return. Off to start hatching a plan…
