Maggi Hambling


The statue of Oscar Wilde near Charing Cross station featured early in getting to know my other half. Prior to that I don’t think I’d really heard much about Maggi Hambling. So thought we’d go and check out a bit more of her work at her War Requiem & Aftermath exhibition. Very moving it was too, particularly the room with anonymous portraits set against emotive strains of Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem.
