Arrived in sunny Napier last night after a wonderful treat of a day getting here from Gisborne. What a fantastic drive. Stopped off and spent the afternoon mooching round beautiful Mahia Peninsular about 45 mins out of Gisborne. Got held up by sheep along the way but didn’t mind a single bit. Mahia is a truly wonderful place. Beaches to suit all sorts coming out of your ears… Spent some […]

East Cape 3

Well the last few days have been absolutely wonderful. A lot of driving but all of it completely awesome. Am currently in Mahia about to have a bit of a rummage round the peninsular – like what I’m seeing so far. Internet access here, dial up (and expensive) so will have to wait til I get to Napier or Wellington to post pics. Hotwater beach was pissing down with rain […]

And the rain it came… 7

Well today is definitely a wet playtime day. Has been pissing down since shortly after my last post. Windy too. Apparently this is what passes for sunshine and showers round here. Still every cloud and all that … means I don’t mind being indoors and on the net. Now have all required gadgetry to post pics I should have posted yesterday: Sunset from night before last Bits of yesterday’s lovely […]

Bay of Plenty & Coromandel

Well I’m still just loving this place. Spent most of last week hanging out with friends in Tauranga / Mount Maunganui. Beautiful beach. Day trip to Rotorua was great – as well as bubbling pools of mud there was a beautiful walk in the Redwood forest, lakes aplenty and general loveliness. Now in Coromandel. The drive up here was absolutely awesome. Today drove up from Coromandel Town to Colville (blink […]

Northland 4

Well been having a great old time up here in Northland. Spent first day here chillin and did a walk into Pahia along the coastal track. Then to Waitangi treaty house where important stuff happened back in the mists of time. Next day did a trip on the Dune Rider to the far north – Ninety Mile Beach, Cape Reinga, Tapotupotu bay, Manganoi world famous fish and chip shop (delicious!). […]

NZ the journey begins … 3

Good flight over from Tokyo. Got picked up from Auckland airport which was very nice indeed, then dropped off to ferry to spend weekend on Waiheke Island. Great place, beautiful beaches, great company, lots of drinking and other merriment… Met a number of really cool local women and even had a go at golf (I was really crap – it’s suprisingly hard to hit the ball). After Waiheke, back to Auckland, […]

Tokyo Rocks!!

I am loving this place! (If you read last post, you`ll be pleased to know I worked out how to flush the loo in my hotel room!) Just coming to the end of a fun packed time in Tokyo en route to New Zealand. Made up for early night the next day with some serious pavement pounding checking out Tokyo`s green spaces. Starting with trip to Ueno Park – beautiful […]

So here I am in Tokyo where I`m stopping off for a few days en route to New Zealand. Slight scare on arrival as sniffer dog took an unhealthy interest in me and “reacted” to something in my bag. Customs officials were very nice about leading me off to a wee room and doing a thorough search of my carefully packed bag. Found nothing (of course – Iwouldn`t be that […]

So I’m in Orlando Florida for a conference. Now it’s all over and I have a bit of spare time on my hands only to discover that if you’re not into Disneyworld or any of its offshoots, besides shopping, there ain’t a lot else to do that doesn’t involve a wallet bashing cab ride (according to the hotel Concierge anyway – and she reckoned it wasn’t worth the trip – […]

Boo Hoo

Ok so the women’s World Cup Final is over 🙁 . Worse than that the wrong team won (sorry Germany but you’ve won it loads of times already). Good match though and it has to be said Germany were very disciplined at the back and didn’t give Brazil’s strikers any room. Better luck next time Marta and co. Brazil your hour will come …
