Spring has sprung and it’s that time of the year again when I get to hang out with friends on the South Bank, bunking off work in the afternoon and watching films.
The llgff this year had some great films, my favourites being:
- the Railroad Allstars – female sex workers in Guatemala form a football team to tour the country and bring attention to the discrimination, intimidation and brutality they face, effectively for being poor and women. Harrowing, inspiring and humorous.
- Dirty Laundry – hilariously funny film with a fantastic cast about family secrets and rifts.
- Rag Tag – a love story with a happy ending (must be getting soppy in me old age)
Look forward to doing it all again next year. In the mean time better get my shit together and pack since off to Washington tomorrow.
