GIGSAs much as I like listening to vinyl and CDs etc. I like to get out and see live music too. From "unknown" musicians at the local pub to better known artists at more salubrious venues. Highlights in the last few years include seeing Jazz Jamaica at Ronnie Scott's - that was some night - no pics unfortunately. Also saw Pinise Saul, Lucky Ranku and Township Express there a couple of weeks later - another brilliant night. I can definitely recommend their album Fishbone. I don't really like going to massive venues so when summer comes around and there's lots of outdoor music happening it's great to chill out (weather permitting), wander around, try to worm your way to the front to get a good view of the band, spend time queuing for various things (food, drink, toilet etc.) against the backdrop of shiny happy people and music pumping out from every tent or stage. Every time I go see live music I promise myself I must do so more often, then real life takes over and suddenly it's been several months or even longer since I last kept that promise... Anyway, I take pics whenever I can so hope you enjoy them. |
