Click on the pic to return to Spain Autumn 2006 story El Torcal offered a completed change of scene from where we'd been the first couple of days. These amazing rock formations just have to be seen to be believed. Everywhere there were great piles stacked up like pancakes forming impossibly weird and wonderful structures. Despite the pouring rain, and heavy mist we managed a short walk for an hour or so, clambering over slippery rocks. The weather conditions obscured the view of the surrounding countryside (which is apparently stunning) but didn't dampen our spirits (well not too much anyway). The weather gave the whole place an eerie, mystical feel. I really loved the atmosphere here. |
