Grazalema Natural Park, an important mountain wilderness unique to Andalucia was absolutely beautiful. I wish we could have spent more time here. There is much to see in the area, especially if you enjoy wild life and walking. It was wonderfully peaceful and the views were amazing - big imposing mountains, lakes and streams, olive trees, woodpeckers and other bird life. Due to a seriously crap navigational skills we managed to miss the towns of Grazalema completely and didn't realise 'til it was too late. The town is said to be very pretty but the worse thing about going the wrong way was missing out on seeing the second highest pass in Andalucia - Puerto de las Palomas (Pass of the Doves) which is on the road between Grazalema and Zahara de la Sierra another fortified whitewashed hill town. I expect the driving would have been pretty hairy though as it's only a tiny road. |
