Los Canos de Meca has a really beautiful beach, coastline, and rocky coves. The village borders onto Barbate Natural Park and the views from the cliff tops are spectacular. There used to be a thriving hippy community in Canos apparently. It's difficult to understand why the hippies moved away but now the secluded coves on the beach are a favourite spot for naturists and others not afraid of a spot of skinny dipping. Cabo Trafalgar along the coast a short way is also worth a visit for its lighthouse, sand dunes, rock pools, and crashing waves. In 1805 just off Cabo Trafalgar Nelson fought and died in his last battle. |
