Click on the pic to return to Scotland story The Loch of Lowes Nature Reserve was a beautiful spot only about a 1½ miles from where we were staying. After a hard days walking, it was a great place to spend some time watching the sun go down and the water birds flying in and out before returning to our "home" for the week -- The Old Smithy cottage near Snaigow (very comfortable, great location). Unfortunately (or fortunately for the wildlife) you can't walk all the way round the loch but you can get down to it in places and there's a few bird hides dotted around. All very tranquil, even with the loudest moos I've ever heard, echoing round the loch, and emanating from the hugest cow I've ever seen, on a farm nearby. An excellent way to end a sunny afternoon. |
