Click on the pic to return to Scotland story Dunkeld is a pretty little town. It's got a really old Cathedral which apparently took over 200 years to build. Finally the job got done in 1501-ish only for it to mostly be destroyed 60 years later. Apart from a Cathedral, pretty whitewashed houses and a few twee shops, Dunkeld sports this lovely bridge over the River Tay. We hung out by the river for a bit after completing the relatively short Hermitage Walk nearby. The walk goes through woodland that takes you past Ossian's Hall, and Ossian's Cave -- not sure who Ossian was -- perhaps s/he was a hermit. We lunched by the Rumbling Bridge over the River Braan which thundered dramatically below. |
