Click on the pic to return to San Francisco story The walk across Golden Gate Bridge is fabulous, particularly on a clear day. On my last visit, the bridge was completely shrouded in fog, so it was great to get a bit of a view this time. The 3 mile or so round trip takes about an hour depending on how fast you walk and how much you stop to gaze in awe at the bridge's amazing construction. If you still got some walking in you after crossing the bridge and back, I can definitely recommend the walk at least part of the way back into town via the Marine Boulevard which hugs the shoreline, providing more great views of the bridge and the bay. There are pretty little beaches along the way, and it's a generally nice place to hang out for a couple of hours. If walking's not for you, then an option is to hire a bike, cycle over the bridge to Sausalito and get the ferry back. |
