Piazza de Spagna - the Spanish Steps was where we met our friends Katja and Luca on our first day. Despite the fact that millions of other people were also meeting their friends, we managed to spot each other quite quickly and began our quick introduction to some of Rome's other delights. We returned to the steps a couple of days later, took in spectacular views of the city from the church at top and did a spot of shopping (both window and actual) on our way to the Vatican (which probably wasn't a very holy thing to do). It's really buzzy atmosphere round the Spanish Steps. Lots of people hanging about the narrow cobbled streets, with designer shops and coffee bars - oh and quite a few historic buildings, monuments and churches nearby too. |
