The Palatino is right next to the Colosseum. Anyone whose
into archaeology will be in seventh heaven here. Even
I found it all completely fascinating. Some of the stuff
is seriously old, dating back to the 9th Century BC. Building
continued into the Mid 16th Century when a geezer called
Alessandro Farnese had a terraced garden designed for
him. It's a whole ancient village within a modern city.
New stuff seems to get uncovered all the time as excavations
continue. |
