Colloseum

The Colosseum or (Colosseo as they say in Rome) was pretty amazing really. Smack bang in the middle of a busy modern street looms this blast from the very distant past. Complete with fake Roman Soldiers trying to get you to have your picture taken with them - you could almost feel like you were in ancient Rome (yeah right!).

This huge amphitheatre was built in AD 72 (that's really old) and gladiators fought here. If you closed your eyes and imagined really hard you could almost hear the crowds cheering as some poor hapless Christian got thrown to the lions.
It's kind of creepy to think that countless thousands met their gruesome death here in the brutal games that passed as "entertainment" for the emperors of the time.
