After visiting the very oppressive Elmina castle we decided to cheer ourselves up with a walk along Elmina's beach, and a delicious meal at Coconut Grove beach resort.

The sunset was absolutely amazing and the beach absolutely beautiful - like all of the beaches we visited whilst in Ghana. The sea's a bit too rough to swim in safely but fortunately the hotel has a very lovely pool within sight and sound of the crashing waves.

If you have lots of spare cash I'm sure this 5 star hotel would be a very nice place to stay. We had to hire a taxi to take us away from this almost-paradise to the real world. An hour or so later we arrived back at where we were staying in Saltpond.
