This was my favourite place on my brief trip to Ghana. We stayed in Saltpond overnight and at some point during the next day I pottered down here for a bit of solitude. I remember coming here on holiday as a child and "helping" the fishermen pull in their nets. All along the beach there are teams of fishermen doing their thing. Women and children next to the shoreline with small buckets collecting stuff - crabs or shellfish or something I never worked out what. Anyhow the breeze was beautiful and it was fascinating to watch the fish being landed, other folk about to go out to sea etc. Coconut palms as far as the eye can see so plenty of natural shade. Fab. This is definitely where I'll be spending more time when I return - not that I'm a beach bum or anything. |
