We’re on the road 3

Had a lovely Friday night in Auckland eating a meal and catching up with an old friend. Next morning, picked up the van and we were on our way.

First stop Coramandel. Caught up with another friend Robyn who owns/runs the beautiful Jacaranda Lodge a fabulous b n b where I stayed the last time I was round these parts.

After a cuppa and a long chat we headed up to Colville Farm, our lodgings for the night.

Colville Farm

Colville farm is beautiful, tranquil and good for walking. Did a great walk here last time so I thought I’d go up the hill through the lovely woods to catch the sunset. Not the best sunset I’ve seen that evening but the woods were all fresh smelling and lovely.

After a good night’s rest it was a drive down the other side of Coramandel Peninsula to Hot Water Beach…

Hot Water Beach

… Hahei, and the stunning beach at Cathedral Cove…

Cathedral Cove Beach

Another beaut walk…

Trees

…The limestone arch from which the cove gets its name is amazing…

Next we were off to Waihi Beach, for our overnight stay. Unfortunately rain set in. Managed a walk to the local fush n chups shop though and I have to say the snapper was delicious as were the chips.

So at the moment we’re stopped for breakfast at Mount Manganui, lovely little town. Shortly making our way to Whakatane and hopefully a walk around Tarerewa falls. Then there will be more radio silence I expect as we make our way to Gisborne via the stunning East Cape. So ta ta for now…

@ Jill, thanks. BTW if you ever find yourself in the Coramandel and Robyn is still at Jacaranda Lodge, you’d love it. Bit like being down at the farm in Devon.

@ Acyee no soak at the beach, ducks waddled off, D much better…
