Back in old Blighty 3

Been back home for just over a week now. It’s hard having to suffer my own cooking after weeks of delicious meals crafted by others … and go back to work … and not be a beach bum any more…

On the plus side it’s been nice being able to breathe again – sea level has its pluses … and catching up with friends and family.

In case you haven’t noticed I’ve uploaded a few pics from my time in Peru and Bolivia so haven’t been completely idle since my return.

    Hello
I’ve just found your site, through looking for info on the houseboats and seen the photos of plants that you think are cardoons or artichokes – they’re not! They are actually teasels, which used to be used for teasing wool to make it straight for spinning, and they’re not edible at all. I can see why there could be the confusion: I have artichokes in my carden, and they are very tall with huge thistle type heads, and are edible if you eat the base of the flower petals very young. I hope you don’t mind me mentioning this!
    All the best
