Homeward Bound

After a few days discovering the delights of La Paz, returning home tomorrow (though not actually arriving til day after). My mini sojourns to San Francisco, Peru and Bolivia have been great but all too brief. However, on the plus side, it will be nice reacquainting myself with familiar things, and devising a cunning plan for my next trip …

Isla Del Sol

Spent most of the day on a boat on Lake Titicaca visiting the beautiful Isla del Sol. Wimped out of the walk from north to south of the island and opted to get back on the boat instead. Rounded off the day with a delicious meal watching the sun set over Lake Titicaca. Can´t think of a nicer way to escape all the Christmas Crap.

Bolivia

Left Puno, Peru yesterday after visiting the floating islands. Then 4 hour bus journey into Bolivia. Spending a few days in Copacabana hopefully fitting in a trip to Isla Del Sol before heading off to La Paz. So far really enjoying Copacabana so off for another mooch around town. Looking forward to sampling local trout from Lake Titicaca this evening.

I survived the Inca Trail

Well we made it. There were many times when I thought I wouldn´t. 4 day trek up to Machu Picchu was hard work to say the least but now it´s behind me it was definitely worth it. Just chilling out now in Agua Callientes waiting for train and bus back to Cusco, civilisation and a nice long shower…

Lima Airport

Have now left the grey drizzle of San Francisco behind. After a 4 am start arrived in Lima Peru via Houston. Got to travel first class on the Houston to Lima stretch which was very nice indeed. Shame not to get upgraded more often … Got 6 hours or so to kill at Lima airport before flight to Cuzco. Arrived bleary eyed and not exactly with it. The ground beneath […]

Golden Gate

The sun finally broke out today so took the opportunity to visit Golden Gate Bridge and walk the Coastal Trail to Ocean Beach. Fabulous views of the bridge and the ocean along the way. With the rain and storms of the previous couple of days the HUGE waves crashing thunderously on Baker Beach were very impressive. As were the equally huge and opulent dwellings around Baker Beach and China Beach. […]

Vive San Francisco

Loving it here, San Francisco is a great city – well mostly anyway. This is my third visit, the last trip around this time last year. I’m thinking I might just have to scam a way of living / working here for a bit or something. Any offers? For the first couple of hours or so after settling into hotel I was pretty convinced all the buildings were moving and […]

More good things in the pipeline

Did I say all good things must come to an end?? Well that may well be true but hey, maybe from endings come new beginnings… I’m off on me travels again soon. San Francisco CA, followed by a mad cap scheme to link up with friends travelling in South America. Machu Picchu and the Inca Trail, Lake Titicaca and La Paz beckon. Looking forward to experiencing something completely different to […]

All good things must come to an end

After a couple of glorious weeks off work it’s back to the grind tomorrow. Spent most of the last week lounging around at home and taking in the joys of daytime TV … After a week lying around have had a couple of lovely days this weekend so time to get out and about in the fresh air again. Was particularly nice to get lost in Epping Forest again today […]

Walking in Spain 2

Just returned from a wonderful week’s walking in Spain. No spring flowers this time but plenty of mushrooms and other autumn plants to keep me and my camera occupied. See plants and Spain albums for recent additions. Thanks to Rosie of Lottsa Women Walking for organising the fantastic walks, hotels, massage, and a very relaxing week. If you ever find yourself in Alcaucin or Comares I can highly recommend Hotel […]
